If you are looking for a more affordable referee communication setup, a combination of 1 × V4 Plus and 2 × V6 Pro can be a practical option for grassroots referees, amateur officials, or referees who are just getting started.
This setup offers a lower upfront cost while still providing real-time communication during matches. However, before choosing this combination, it is important to understand both its advantages and limitations.
Why choose the 1 V4 Plus + 2 V6 Pro combination?
For referees with a limited budget, this mixed setup can be a cost-effective way to start using a referee communication system.
Main benefits
Budget-friendly option for grassroots and amateur referees
Suitable for entry-level match officiating
Provides hands-free communication between match officials during the game
Lower cost than a full 3-piece V4 Plus set
Things to know before choosing this setup
While this combination can work well for basic use, it is not the ideal choice for more demanding or higher-level matches.
Main limitations
Connection stability is not as strong as a full 3-piece V4 Plus set
Shorter communication range
A 3-piece V4 Plus set can reach up to 1500 meters in ideal conditions and is generally able to cover the full pitch more effectively.
By comparison, a mixed setup of 1 V4 Plus + 2 V6 Pro has a maximum communication range of around 800 meters.
Because of this, we generally recommend a full 3-piece V4 Plus set for referees working larger fields or more competitive matches.
How to pair 1 V4 Plus with 2 V6 Pro
If you already have this combination, follow the steps below to connect the devices.
Step 1: Power on all devices
Turn on the 1 V4 Plus and 2 V6 Pro units.
Step 2: Set the V4 Plus as the host unit
Use the V4 Plus as the host intercom, and use the two V6 Pro units as the sub intercoms.
Step 3: Pair the first V6 Pro to button A on the V4 Plus
Press and hold the “A” button on the V4 Plus until the indicator flashes red and blue.
On the first V6 Pro, press and hold the motorcycle button (this button functions as the “A” button on the V6 Pro) until its indicator also flashes red and blue.
Wait a few seconds until both devices flash blue at the same time.
Once this happens, the V4 Plus has successfully paired with the first V6 Pro.
Step 4: Pair the second V6 Pro to button B on the V4 Plus
Press and hold the “B” button on the V4 Plus until the indicator flashes red and blue.
On the second V6 Pro, press and hold the “B” button until its indicator flashes red and blue.

Once this happens, the V4 Plus has successfully paired with the second V6 Pro.
Step 5: Enter intercom mode
Press the “A” button on the V4 Plus to enter intercom mode.
After pairing is completed:
the host V4 Plus can talk to and hear both V6 Pro units

Final thoughts
The 1 V4 Plus + 2 V6 Pro combination is a good entry-level option for referees who want a more affordable communication system. It can handle basic match communication needs, especially for grassroots games and amateur officiating.
That said, if your budget allows, we still recommend choosing a 3-piece V4 Plus set instead. The price difference is usually only around $50 more, but the benefits are significant:
better connection stability
longer communication range
full simultaneous communication between all 3 users
If you regularly officiate full-size matches or want a more reliable referee communication experience, the 3-piece V4 Plus set is the better long-term choice.
V4C Plus Referee Headset
If you want a more reliable alternative to a mixed headset setup, the V4C Plus is a better choice for grassroots and amateur referees who need stable full-duplex communication at a reasonable price.
- Bluetooth 5.1 for stable wireless pairing
- 3D sound with clear audio and noise reduction
- Supports 4 referees full duplex communication
- Up to 1200 meters communication distance
- Affordable price: US$69 / unit
Benifits of using a 3-piece set V4 Plus
- improve officiate efficiency of the referees with group talking, listen and speak simultaneously.
- avoid missing key information in the group, assistant referees need to get information from his colleagues too.
- not much higher price than the combination of V4 Plus and V6 Pro.
